History

Building on its history of over 150 years of innovation, Stiefel has become a true multinational partner with health care professionals around the globe, and a leading force in dermatology.

Stiefel began making candles and household soaps, in Offenbach-am-Main Germany in 1847. The founder, Johann David Stiefel, changed the company's focus to medical soaps when dermatologists found soap to be an ideal delivery system for many of the medications then in use.

Now established in Coral Gables, Florida, the Stiefel group comprises 38 subsidiary companies around the globe. Stiefel products can be found in more than 110 countries.

In the UK Stiefel has been established for almost 40 years. during which time very strong associations have been established with Dermatologists, General Practitioners, Pharmacists, and patient organisations with an interest in skin diseases.

We are the largest dermatology company in the UK producing a wide range of products and educational services to help sufferers with their skin problems. Amongst our wide product range are; OILATUM®, Polytar and Panoxyl®, all leading products in their treatment areas.
